You are seriously committed and invested into your personal and leadership growth.

-
You want to maximize your effectiveness and impact as a leader.
My role as a Trainer and Leadership Coach
As a former CTO and technology leader, what differentiates my services from a "typical" leadership or executive coach is that I integrate principles of mindfulness as a foundation to increase your level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence (EQ).
My structured framework, to which I refer to as the "7 Pillars of Mindful Leadership," provides a mixture of holistic and scientific methods to help you take charge of your own personal growth.
I rely on tried-and-tested methods that I have successfully used in my own transformation..
The importance of Mindfulness as a Foundation
In that context mindfulness is not the end goal, but acts as a catalyst to cultivate new and sometimes “forgotten qualities" in you.
That leads to
-
an increase in your emotional intelligence (active listening, compassion, empathy, ...)
-
Improvement in your self-reflection and self-awareness
-
an improvement in your perception of experience and behavior
-
a deepening of the connection to your intuition. This allows you to consciously improve the quality of your decisions
-
the recognition of limiting thoughts and false beliefs that prevent you from growing personally
-
a change where you replace old habitual or negative thought patterns with more positive and helpful ones
I support you in your personal growth in connection with topics from your professional environment.
For example:
-
In the continuation and further development of individual learning and performance processes
-
Through a solution-oriented approach to increasing performance
-
Helping in the event of work life balance conflicts
-
Developing a better understanding on how to better collaborate with managers or colleagues
In my approach, I assume that you already know the solution to these problems. I help you with specific questions to find or develop this solution in yourself.
Reiner Kraft, PhD
I have more than 15+ years of experience leading high-impact technological organizations both large and small, and have spent 20 years in the Silicon Valley. The past 4 years I have been working in Berlin, which also has a very diverse and vibrant startup culture.
Furthermore, I have applied Mindful Leadership concepts to large organisations (such as Yahoo and Zalando), as well as startups (e.g. Yunar), and therefore collected valuable learnings and practical, hands-on experience. I can therefore teach you Mindful Leadership from the view-point of a leader.
As your personal coach, I am an active listener and a neutral observer. My goal is to help you discover your "blind spots", your limiting thoughts and false beliefs that prevent your further growth. Once these become visible, I can help you overcome them with fresh growth impulses and new ideas to effectively reprogram and upgrade your mind.

How do we work together?
My group coaching offering typically comprises weekly sessions over 3 months.
Of course I'm flexible and can adapt this to your needs. If needed we can always schedule ad-hoc sessions in-between.
A group coaching session usually lasts 1 hour up to 1.5 hours.
We will pick a regular time slots that works well for everyone.
I will limit the number of participating leaders up to 7, so that we can keep the group small enough to facilitate deep dives into our topics.
I will carefully choose the participating leaders to ensure we have an interesting and diverse mix of perspectives.
There are no formal requirements, but I will look for
-
A strong motivation and will power to do the necessary work and training
-
Curiosity and an open mind for new ideas
Besides the weekly group coaching session, I will provide you with comprehensive training resources for self study at your own pace (short videos, and practical hands-on training material). Expect to watch on average about 3-5 short videos per week (each typically 10-15 minutes), and set aside at least 10 minutes per day for your training (more is better).
I'm specializing in Online Coaching formats
We can conveniently connect online over popular and reliable video conferencing platforms. I prefer to use Zoom, as it works very well as has desktop as well as mobile clients.
I like the advantages of online coaching over video. Nowadays they are quite effective and (almost) a replacement for in-person meetings. Here are some of the advantages based on my experience using them for a while:
First, they are quite efficient. There is no need to block out extra time for travel.
Second, the overall technology of todays video conferencing platforms is very mature, works very reliable, and is easy to use. Typically no complex installation is needed and it works right from your browser or SmartPhone. I usually just send you a link with a meeting invite. All you have to do is clicking on that link, and the video meeting can begin.
Last but not least, physical distance does not matter. You can sit in Los Angeles, and I am in Berlin. As long as we find a suitable time slot that bridges our time zone differences we're good to go.
Especially in the current situation of a world-wide pandemic the virtual meeting and online-coaching option is the preferred way to go.
Why Mindfulness as a Foundation?
My coaching approach works by cultivating your consciousness growth.
"Pure consciousness is the awareness and your ability to perceive the current moment."
However, the ability to live in the present moment is greatly undermined through your limiting thoughts and the "permanent voice in your head." Your mind drifts off and usually deals with the same topics from the past or the future again and again, as in an endless loop. In this state one is literally "cut off" from the real life that always happens NOW, in the present moment. Needless to say that this also causes stress, which is not healthy and makes you sick in the long run.
Regular mindfulness training and exercises, combined with formal meditation, can "tame" and "clean up" your mind. This will increase your awareness. That is the basis of my teachings. Over many years I have developed a structured framework "The 7 Pillars of Mindful Leadership". This framework is based on a scientific and data-driven approach.
My motto is:
"If something is not measurable, we do not know whether we are developing in the right direction."
Through systematic training of your mind and methods of continuous inquiry, we can free our minds from limiting thoughts and false beliefs. Your emotional intelligence (EQ) grows along with new capabilities (e.g. empathy, compassion, kindness, a positive attitude, optimism) or existing skills will continue to grow and thrive. A deeper connection to yourself and your intuition is established.
On such a strong foundation we can then implement principles and methodologies of "New Leadership." I published the "12 Principles of Mindful Leadership" a few years ago. These are very easy to understand, but you can only master them with an increased level of present awareness and the associated roots in the present moment. I have experimented with these ideas in larger companies (such as Zalando) but also in startups, and observed the positive impact on the team, my organizations, and the entire company.
If you can then successfully implement these principles in your company, you will create a "New Workplace" in order to make a positive and sustainable contribution to this world.
Now you can see how everything builds up on each other and fits together. There is a lot to learn, but also a lot to "unlearn".
You need openness and the courage to give up old behavior patterns that are no longer helpful.
As a reward of your transformation, your increasing level of consciousness and awareness, your effectiveness as a manager and leader will grow to new levels. Furthermore, this new level of awareness will also have a positive and lasting effect in the private surroundings with your family and friends.
The big advantage of Leadership Coaching:
Gain a fresh and different Perspective
Often times it is helpful to look at problems from a different perspective. This can be extremely eye opening, and can lead to new and creative solutions. However, as a prerequisite you have to be open minded and curious to explore other viewpoints.
I observed that many leaders I have worked with in the past have a strong desire for personal growth. What is missing is someone neutral with whom you can talk about your goals, your mission, and strategy on how to get there.
In addition, the support community through the Mastermind Group coaching also works very well, and helps with holding yourself accountable of actually working through the training material, and really understanding and applying it.
In my experience the biggest blocker holding you back is your own mind, with all the limiting and false beliefs. We will work together on cultivating methods of continuous inquiry, and deepen your self reflection capabilities using mindfulness techniques and meditation. Only with the capability of an honest self assessment can you really grow. In the beginning it is also very helpful to integrate 3rd part feedback and observations from others to identify your "blond spots."
Together we will develop methods of a continuous "questioning process" and deepen your self-reflection skills using mindfulness techniques and meditation techniques.
You can only grow with the ability to honestly assess yourself. At the beginning it is also very helpful to integrate feedback and observations from others in order to identify your "blind spots." The goal is to minimize this over time.
